Massachusetts authorities managed to rescue an 84 year-old man who had fallen into an embankment at 9:30 PM Monday. His dogHe was safely returned to his home.
The man’s wife was at home and alerted authorities after she saw the dog return without her husband, who suffers from mobility issues, according to the Northampton Police Department.
“Today, around 9:30 PM, officers were dispatched at South Street residence to help locate a missing husband. He had [gone]They went to walk their dog at 6:30PM and return in about half an hour. But, the dog had returned home with its lead in tow, without its owner,” Northampton police released a statement.
Police said that the 84-year old man, who uses a cane for walking, didn’t return because he had “fallen down 20-foot embankment in woods and had been screaming for help for hours.”
Northampton Fire Rescue helped to lift the man to safety.Â
