Following his victory over Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk’s next target is Deontay Wilder and Eddie Hearn thinks the Ukrainian wins ‘comfortably’.
It has been quite a while since. Joshua was defeated by Usyk in a split decisionBoth men moved on to their next challenge in August.
Fury had been Usyk’s target to face next in his quest for the undisputed heavyweight title. But it seems now that ‘The Gypsy King’ will be taking on JoshuaOn December 3, both sides had reached an agreement on terms. Contracts sent.
“I don’t have many feelings about it,” Usyk told Ring Magazine of Fury vs Joshua being in the works. “I don’t really care if Fury wants to fight somebody.
“My team is working on getting me back in the ring and no, no, I’m not p***** off at all.
“The bigger problem is Tyson Fury is not letting fans see one of the best historical bouts in boxing history.
“That’s his fault. Not mine. So, I’m not p***** off at all.
“Tyson Fury can fight whoever he wants to fight. From the standpoint of sportsmanship, of course it’s not correct.”
When asked who he would rather fight than Fury, he replied: Usyk replied, “Deontay Wilder.
“Wilder is a dangerous fighter, and that fight would most likely be in the United States.”
Wilder has not fought since October 2012, when Fury knocked Wilder out. But, he is making an attempt to fight again. October 15 against Robert Helenius.
The American could win the challenge, but Eddie Hearn hopes that Wilder will suffer his third career defeat.
“It’s a good fight,” Hearn spoke out about Boxing Social. “Certainly Saudi Arabia will want the undisputed fight, but if Fury fights AJ that fight won’t be possible till the summer and if AJ beats Fury it won’t be possible till the winter.
“If Fury vs AJ gets made, Oleksandr Usyk will still want to fight and certainly Wilder would be a good option for him.
“I think he wins that fight comfortably, but we’ll see what happens.”
