49ers’ Charles Omenihu ready for center stage if Nick Bosa is stuck on sideline

LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Charles OmenihuHas been the second-best pass rusher in loaded 49ers defensive line, he’s being used far more than he was last season with the Texans and he’s coming off his most prolific game of 2022.

Charles, how is the season progressing?

“Decent,” he said Wednesday before practice at The Greenbrier resort in West Virginia.

“There’s guys in the league that have more sacks than me, more tackles than me,” he noted. “I’m super critical of myself and I have to keep improving.”

He’ll likely have plenty of opportunities Sunday in Atlanta. That’s because the 49ers’ starting defensive line — Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, Javon KinlawAnd Samson Ebukam — missed Wednesday’s practice with injuries.

Armstead’s ongoing foot issue appears to be the most serious. He’s already been ruled out of the Falcons game and isn’t traveling with the team. Kinlaw, however, missed the two previous contests due swelling and irritation to his surgically-repaired knee. He’s on the East Coast swing with the team.
